Code of Conduct
At Illuminate Learning 101 we believe that the best learning happens when individuals feel safe and respected.
Illuminate Learning 101 adheres to the Australian Tutoring Association (ATA) Code of Conduct which can be found here.
In addition to the ATA Code of Conduct Illuminate Learning 101 also adheres to the following code of conduct practices when working with students, parents, and schools:
Assessment support:
Assessment information provided by the student – such as but not limited to copies of marking guidelines, task descriptions, and scaffolds, will not be retained beyond 30 days from the due date of the task, or the date that student support is obtained (whichever is later). Materials provided by a student remain the intellectual property of the author, school, or governing body that produced it and will not be shared beyond the immediate tutoring relationship.
Feedback provided by Illuminate Learning 101 is intended to guide the individual student receiving support only. This feedback is not designed to be representative of a wholistic strategy for completion by a cohort or to replace feedback given by a classroom teacher, or authorised marker for the task.
Any exemplars, sample phrases, or comments provided by Illuminate Learning 101 as part of the feedback process must not be used as a student’s work when submitting their assessment task.
Feedback regarding student progress will be based on the grade descriptors and exemplars provided by NESA (New South Wales Education Standards Authority).
These can be found here:
NESA Course Specific Performance Descriptors
Student drafts of assessment items will not be shared, used as a student exemplar, or communicated in any way outside of the tutor/student relationship without the express permission of the student, and their parent/ guardian (where a student is under the age of 18).
Student work will be retained for 30 days following the submission of feedback to the student, after which all files pertaining to that iteration of the work will be deleted. It is the student’s responsibility to download and retain a copy of their work and the feedback given prior to the end of the specified 30-day period.
Tutoring Sessions:
Material shared with a student remains the intellectual property of the original author or Illuminate Learning 101. These materials include, but are not limited to – worksheets, exercises, extracts of texts, exemplars, annotations, collections, web pages, and feedback comments. Materials shared in the session or provided for access after the session must not be copied, shared, or in any way redistributed without permission.
Sessions must not be recorded in any way, or at any time without express permission from the tutor, student, and the parent/guardian (where a student is under the age of 18).
Students (under the age of 18) must attend their session at a place and time that allows their parent/guardian to provide adequate and active supervision for the session.
Illuminate Learning 101 will provide records of written communication with students to parents/ guardians upon request and within 3 business days.
Students are permitted to save the ‘Zoom chat’ from their tutoring sessions to allow for access to references and discussion comments following their session. All material saved from the chat remains the property of Illuminate Learning 101 or the original source where a web link connects to an external web page.
Students:
Students must be fully clothed, and in a space where there is adult supervision (for students under the age of 18) for the duration of their tutoring session.
Students must not share explicit content, use derogatory or offensive language, or reference restricted materials (beyond those prescribed by NESA as part of HSC English text prescriptions) during their tutoring session. This includes the use of language and images that may be used in a Zoom background.
Parent/guardians:
Illuminate Learning 101 encourages parents/ guardians to take an active role in the learning and growth of their student.
Parents/ guardians must provide contact details and be available to be contacted during the tutoring session.
Parents/guardians are not permitted to record tutoring sessions or to disseminate materials provided through the tutoring session to other parties without express permission from Illuminate Learning 101.
Parents/ guardians are encouraged to raise any concerns they have about tutoring sessions with Illuminate Learning 101 in writing via the website contact form or email. These concerns will be responded to within 3 business days counted from the first business day (or part thereof) of the correspondence being received.
Parents/ guardians remain responsible for managing the conduct of their student (where the student is under the age of 18) at all times.
Illuminate Learning 101 is designed to support the learning of students in a safe space and as such we will not tolerate abusive or offensive communication of any kind. Any behaviour or conduct that is considered abusive or offensive will be reported to the parent/guardian in the first instance. Ongoing abusive or offensive conduct will result in the termination of the session without a refund. Where this conduct also breaches NSW or Commonwealth laws it will be reported to authorities.
